Why I create Christmas Artwork

Santa Claus painting toys

When I was four years old, I could recite The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore. I had one of those books that had a record built into it. There was a little spot where I could put my thumb and dial it around to make the record play as fast or slow as I wanted. I spent hours with that book, memorizing the iconic poem and dreaming of what it would be like if I saw Santa come to my home.

Christmas was a magical time in my home. We decorated and baked cookies, played Christmas music and wrapped gifts in secret. The real magic, however, always happened at my grandparents’s where we would spend Christmas Eve. We were sure to write letters to Santa (and he wrote us back!), leave out cookies, and try to catch a peek of him when he stopped by.

The Real meaning of Christmas

Even when I grew up and began to realize Santa Claus was a magical character who lived in my wonderment, the magic of Christmas didn’t disappear, because I also grew to realize the true magic and meaning of Christmas lay in the birth of Christ and the joy and peace and love his arrival offered the world.

the gift of childhood wonder

That wonder of my childhood . . . sometimes I can feel it again as an adult, when I scuba dive or swim in a pool with my kids. When I sit in the sand and build a sand castle, and I especially feel it around Christmas time. The shedding of all adult pretenses and reveling in the magic of the moment and being alive.

When I saw that wonder of childhood reflected on my own children’s faces, I knew I needed to capture and preserve it. I began simply with photography. Photographs of daily moments that became magical was an efficient and useful way to freeze my children’s wonder. Realizing I could offer this gift to others brought a thrill to my heart and I did just that. Since 2014 I have been photographing families and children, capturing the essence of their love for each other and the wonder of their world through their eyes.

sharing the joy and wonder of Christmas

Recently I came across the work of Larry Hersberger, a Master Photographer and artist. I was floored by the magical wonder of childhood he captured in his Masterpiece Christmas artwork. It spoke to my inner child and I knew it had the same affect on many others. It was clear to me that my next step was to offer this quality and level of artwork to families. I have been learning from and mentoring under Larry and am excited to offer this exquisite artwork to Michigan families.

Following Larry’s approach of making artwork look like it is actually happening, I have curated a set full of toys and props that look like they would actually be in Santa’s workshop if your child’s dream visit came to real life. Simple classic pajamas are provided, because of course, we visit Santa at five to midnight on the Night Before Christmas. The result is stunning iconic Fine Art Christmas images.

artwork with meaning and purpose

From the initial design consultation to final product delivery, every moment is considered when creating artwork to capture the wonder of your children. The true meaning Christmas is woven throughout each scene. The viewer of the artwork, whether it’s on your wall or in the form of a storybook, will visually enter the scene, take in each and every detail, and step away with an understanding of the joy and love and kindness of the season. What could be a more beautiful gift?
